The Item import allows you to bring all items (parts) into the database. This imports items as unique entities without reflecting any of the relationships between different items. If you would like to use product structure in Assembly Planner, the bill of material (BOM) can be created within the system after importing items or the product structure can be entered separately by importing a BOM file. Furthermore, if an item in a BOM needs to be updated, the Import Item feature can be used to change that time without having to bring in the entire BOM again.
There are certain fields that must appear in the spreadsheet file used to import items. The table below lists the standard fields provided in Assembly Planner; each of these fields needs to be a column heading in the spreadsheet file. The fields described as not mandatory do not need to be included as columns in the sheet.
In addition to the standard fields, the import file must also have a column that matches each user-created custom field.
